New material from The Hoodoo Gurus. Not a great song but still a kicking performance and it’s good to see that they are still kicking around. The new album is streaming on spinner but hasn’t shown up on iTunes or emusic yet (I guess it takes a while to travel from Australia).

A classic from the past:

I have followed Matthew Houck and his  Phosphorescent releases over the years. The last release was a tribute to Willy Nelson and the sound took a step up, but I can’t say I was very excited about the project. The sound has stepped up again on “Here’s To Taking It Easy”, a  much more fuller and stronger material. The album is currently streaming on spinner.

Through ads for back issues and the odd used comics find (never mind paperback covers and Molly Hatchett albums), I was able to pore over his work and get lost in his fantasy worlds like any young boy ought to.

I’ve really just listened to samples so far and haven’t found the one or two great songs Mark E. Smith usually plugs into each album. At any rate Domino is streaming the new fall album.

I had this song playing in the car yesterday on my trip home from TO. It’s the perfect hangover song and against all odds, it ended up being very appropriate.

here’s a proper video from their most recent album (produced by Frank Black):

For good measure, some older tunes:
